Die althergebrachte Weissweinrebe Chasselas, auch Gutedel oder Fendant genannt, wird im Allgemeinen wenig wertgeschätzt und ihr Anbau ist rückläufig. Doch besonders im süddeutschen Markgräflerland sowie im Waadtland weiss man um das riesige Potenzial der Rebsorte und erreicht mit ihrem Ausbau im Holzfass komplexe Weine.
